With the keyboard: the arrow keys move, the digits 1 to 9 fill in, 0 or Backspace clears.
What “without guessing” means here
The Easy puzzle can be finished using only two lines of reasoning: this square can now take only one digit, and this digit has only one square left to go in its row, column or box. The next ones call for other reasoning — candidates locked in a row or a box, pairs, and for theExpert puzzle, an X-Wing — but none of them asks you to start from a guess to see whether it holds: that, and that alone, is what we guarantee.
The number of starting digits changes the length of the path, not its nature: 40, 34, 31 and 28 starting digits for Easy, Medium, Hard and Expert.
