What we measure, instead of promising it
18 ptBody text size of the printed book, measured on the final PDFs of our books — not just announced on the cover. (On screen, the “Reading comfort” setting goes well beyond that.)
LucioleA typeface designed for low vision by Laurent Bourcellier and Jonathan Perez, with the CTRDV and the DIPHE laboratory — not an ordinary typeface made bigger.
Single solutionEvery nonogram puzzle is checked, one by one: just one possible picture, found without ever guessing.
140% or moreMedian line spacing of the reading text, measured on each of our volumes; the French guideline requires at least 140%. A few lines — legal notices, quotations, notes — are set tighter.

We don’t say “bigger print than the others”: the benchmark title in our survey also advertises 16 to 20 points. What sets us apart is that our figure comes from a measurement, that the typeface is made for low vision, and that a public standard stands behind it.

Each book hides a word in its bonus puzzles. We won’t say which: you find it by playing.

About us

Esprit Vif is a collection from Éditions Florimond, an independent publisher based in the canton of Vaud, Switzerland. We publish puzzle books for readers who want comfort without being treated like children.

The workshop — a puzzle of your own

Start from a photo, a drawing, or a blank page: the workshop builds a nonogram and checks while you draw that the puzzle has a single solution and can be solved without ever guessing. It tells you the size of the numbers before printing, and it produces a PDF ready for the printer. One puzzle prints for free; beyond that, prints are bought in batches.
